Easter Basket

Hi all,

Here are the directions to put together the Easter basket from my post yesterday.

These are the basic instructions for putting together a basket like this. I chose this particular size because I wanted to be able to make one descent size basket (that will hold a few treats/easter eggs) with just one sheet of cardstock for the basket & handle. You can alter it using various sizes of cardstock…such a versatile basket and sooo cute :)

We will start with a 8 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock and score 1″, 2″, 3″ , 5 1/2″, 6 1/2″, and 7 1/2″. Rotate the paper and score at 3″ and 5 1/2″. Based on the diagram below, you want to mark off 4 1/4″ as the center point and draw a triangle with that center top and bottom piece. Fold and cut per diagram below.

After you cut and fold your piece it will look like this. You also want to trim the 4 corner pieces down by 1/4″. This is the best time to sponge on your ink to the edges if you want that look.

Now we will start putting together the basket. We will work from the center out. Starting with center two pieces, you want to line up and mark the first two pieces like this:

Trim off the excess:

Adhere these first two pieces to the center triangle piece. Next, line up your next two pieces like so:

Then adhere those two pieces together and then attach to the front piece that you just finished.

Next align the two last pieces so that they are in a straight line.

Then adhere that to the front piece that you just finished working on. This is what it will look like when everything is adhered together.

Trim off excess:

Punch two 1 3/4″ circles using your 1 3/4″ circle punch. Adhere one of your circles to the completed panel:

Repeat steps on putting together the basket on the other side. Then trim a piece of cardstock 1″ x 8 1/2″ for your handle. Attach to basket base. At this point, you can insert a brad into the handle or decorate as you like.

Have fun creating these fun baskets. Let me know if you have any questions.
